ABOUT EMPOWER GENETICS

You deserve answers.
We're here to find them.

Empower Genetics was built on a simple belief: that access to expert genetic guidance should not depend on where you live, who your doctor is, or how long you're willing to wait. Everyone deserves clear answers about their own DNA and a plan to do something meaningful with them.

No waitlist

Appointments within 1-2 weeks. Your health questions shouldn't sit in a queue for months while you wait for answers.

Telehealth, your way

See a board-certified genetic counselor from your home. No commute, no trying to find parking, and no sitting in a waiting room.

No referral required

You can self-refer and book directly with us. You shouldn't have to try to find the right provider to give you permission to understand your own genetics.

Genuinely personal care

Every appoint is one-on-one with a board-certified genetic counselor. No rushed appointment slots, no generic reports. Just guidance built around your life and your goals.

Meet the Founder

Lifelong Idahoan. Jordan was raised in the small mountain town of Riggins, Idaho, graduated from Salmon River High School, and has stayed rooted in Idaho ever since. Empower Genetics was built to serve the state she calls home.

MEET OUR FOUNDER

Growing up in rural Idaho, I understood early what it meant to have limited access to things like specialists, resources, and to the kind of expert guidance that people in larger cities might take for granted. That shaped how I think about healthcare, and it eventually shaped why I built Empower Genetics the way I did.

I've always been drawn to understanding how complex systems work, which led me to study Biological Systems Engineering at the University of Idaho. It's a discipline that bridges engineering, biology, chemistry, and physics, and is built around solving real problems in human health. My undergraduate research explored how biological systems could be altered to reduce organ transplant rejection. That project taught me to look beneath the surface, trace how pieces connect, and follow the data to find answers that aren't immediately obvious.

That same instinct (asking why, following the evidence, and looking at the system as a whole) is exactly how I approach genetic counseling today. It turns out engineering and genetics have more in common than most people expect.

When I was thinking about what came next, I was looking for a career that let me combine the science I loved with a more direct, human impact. I wanted to sit across from someone and actually change how they understood their own health. Genetic counseling was that answer. I completed my Masters in Genetic Counseling at Boise State University and earned board certification through the American Board of Genetic Counseling, with clinical training in hereditary cancer, prenatal genetics, and general genetics.

What I witnessed during my time of working in a clinical genetics setting stayed with me in ways I didn't expect.

In Idaho, patients were waiting anywhere between 3 months to 2 years to see a genetics specialist. The state has very few genetic counselors and geneticists, and most work within hospital systems with strict referral criteria. Patients couldn't simply decide that they wanted answers for their genetic questions. They needed the right referral, had to meet the right criteria, and then waited (sometimes for years) while their questions went unanswered and their anxiety grew.

I also kept seeing the same kind of patient: someone who had been living with unexplained symptoms for years, cycling through appointments and specialists, and being told that it was stress, anxiety, or simply the way things were. People who felt dismissed. People who just needed someone to actually listen and take their concerns seriously.

I started Empower Genetics for all of these people. The ones waiting for months for an appointment they shouldn't have to wait for and the ones who just needed someone in their corner ready to listen.

OUR APPROACH

How we show up for every patient

Genetic counseling done well is more than science. It's about making sure every person who comes to us feels genuinely seen, heard, and equipped to make decisions with confidence.

We're not here to replace your care. We're here to extend it and send your patients back to you with clearer answers and a better plan.

You are heard first

Many of our patients have spent hears being told their symptoms aren't serious enough, or that their concerns are just anxiety. Before anything else, we listen fully and take what you're describing seriously.

Prevention over reaction

We believe the most powerful use of genetic information is getting ahead of risks before they become problems. Our whole approach is built around proactive, personalized care for your long-term health.

Genetics is a guide, not a verdict

Your DNA is information, not a sentence. We help you understand what your genetics mean in context alongside your lifestyle, environment, and goals so you leave with clarity, not fear.

Whole-person approach

Your genes are only part of the picture. We consider your nutrition, lifestyle, medical history, and personal goals alongside your DNA because meaningful guidance has to fit your actual life.
